Lake Balaton is a freshwater lake in western Hungary of 78 km long. In this region, tourists are always in demand. In addition, it's a wine producing region and also has the advantage of having volcanic landscapes and beaches as far as our eyes can see. This area in the southwest of Budapest has seen the blossoming of cities and luxury resorts. The flatter southern bank is lined with several seaside resorts and the northern bank is more reserved for spas. It makes Lake Balaton the second most visited place of Hungary after Budapest, the capital city. If you want to visit in winter, the lake is transformed by the temperatures as an ice lake to welcome the World Ice Char Championships. In June, the ultrabalaton race takes place around the lake and in summer, if you like music, the Balaton Sound (also known as MasterCard Balaton Sound) is one of the largest open-air electronic music festivals in Europe. One of the cities around the lake is the most touristic town on Lake Balaton : Siofok. Siofok is the nearest city from Budapest, you can party here on weekends, drink something or also eat at the restaurant, that's not what's missing.
